You are my hero. We sleep-trained our son at 3 months, and he is still a wonderful sleeper at almost 8 years old. It was SO very difficult at the time, and I felt like the worst mama ever those few days Parker cried! But it was completely worth it in the long run. For whatever reason, we decided not to do the same with our daughter, and to this day, at age 3, she still resists nap time and bedtime, and often gets up during the night. I regret not teaching Lila how to soothe herself to sleep! We now have a 6-month old daughter who sleeps about 10 hours most nights, but still, her nap time is touch and go. I know what I have to do... "get out of the way" again, as you put it. Anyhow, I just wanted to encourage you! Hang in there even when it's tough, because it is so worth it in the end when you have a content, happy, well-rested baby... and when Mama and Daddy are well-rested too!
